World’s Most Beautiful Railway – 4 June 2021 – 4/6/2021 – Friday – SBS

Up to 1,000 trains arrive at Waverley station’s 20 platforms each day. Today, they’re planning for a special arrival on platform 19. It’s the ‘homecoming’ of the world’s most iconic steam locomotive, The Flying Scotsman. Designed by ‘son of Edinburgh’, Sir Nigel Gresley in the 1920s, the Flying Scotsman took just eight hours to travel the 392 miles from London to this historic station. In 1934, the Scotsman cemented its reputation as the first locomotive to reach 100mph.
