Should rock climbing be banned on sacred sites? It’s been a year since climbing on one of Australia’s most iconic natural wonders, Uluru, was banned. Now, traditional owners across Australia are calling for climbing on their land to stop too, saying rock climbers damage culturally important sites. But climbers say any move to ban climbing would devastate the increasingly popular sport and regional tourism.
