The Clinton Affair – 7 June 2020 – 7/6/2020 – June 7 – Sunday – SBS

Unaware of Monica’s circumstance, the President is taken by surprise during his deposition in the Paula Jones case – as her lawyers reveal their detailed knowledge of his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. Those details slowly leak and then flood the mainstream media, dominating headlines and the talk shows of an ascendant 24 hour news cycle that replay images of Monica and Bill throughout 1998. The President issues a stern denial, and a war over the truth is waged with Monica in the middle

A group of conservative lawyers known as the ‘elves’ are revealed to have been working behind the scenes to bring down the President. President Clinton’s past statements come home to roost as Independent Counsel Ken Starr sends the Republican-led House his referral outlining the grounds for impeachment. House Republicans vote to release the ‘Starr Report’ ahead of the mid-term election and it’s salacious details become fodder for late-night television and mainstream news alike.
