Russia: 1000 Years Of History – 26 September 2021 – 26/9/2021 – Sunday – SBS

This is a rollercoaster ride through a history of infamous Tsars – including Ivan the Terrible, and the gruesome story of how he earned his nickname; and Peter the Great, who turned Russia into a power to rival the European empires, and Catherine the Great, who would add half of Eastern Europe to Russia’s Empire. But the shocking highs and lows of Tsarist rule were nothing compared to what would come next: one of the most significant events of the 20th century, the Russian Revolution. We’ll tell the story that has come to shape geopolitics for the last 100 years, when the last of the Tsars was executed with his family, and Lenin came to power.
