Pluto: Back From The Dead – 18 April 2021 – 18/4/2021 – Sunday – SBS

In 2015, a tiny spacecraft called New Horizon’s arrived at the very edge of the Solar System and took the first ever close up images of the Dwarf Planet Pluto. The data it sent back left the scientific world speechless. Once thought to be geologically dead, the images from ‘New Horizons’ have revealed Pluto to be an active world of stunning complexity. The pictures contained a bewildering array of unexpected features. There were mountains carved from Ice, a nitrogen glacier that appeared to be moving and a recently active volcano. This programme tells the incredible story by meeting the team responsible, and by exploring the close-up imagery of Pluto’s mysterious surface in extraordinary detail.
